OT-3: Cryptography for Digital Products
Encryption is the foundation of every secure digital product – from firmware updates to device certificates. Which methods are considered secure today, which are outdated, and how to make design decisions that stand up to approval and liability.
Communication protocol, firmware update or device certificate: cryptography is the foundation of every secure digital product. Developers and product owners who do not know which methods are considered secure today and which are already classified as outdated make design decisions with far-reaching consequences – for security, approval and liability.
The uncomfortable question in 2026: Could you prove today that the cryptographic methods in your product reflect the state of the art? This is exactly the evidence that regulatory requirements such as the Cyber Resilience Act or the Machinery Regulation increasingly demand. A poorly chosen algorithm or inadequate key management then creates not only a technical vulnerability but directly jeopardises the marketability of the product.
Module OT-3 provides the necessary foundation: participants learn to assess cryptographic concepts and methods in their practical significance, to critically evaluate existing implementations and to make secure design decisions independently.
Who it is for: Developers and product owners for hardware and software.
Prerequisites: Experience in hardware or software development.
Format: Half-day on-site training (4 hours) at HubWerk01 with 8 to 12 participants from different companies. Certificate of attendance on completion.
Good to know: The training provides orientation and replaces neither individual legal advice nor a product-specific standards analysis. Operational implementation – such as risk assessments or technical documentation – is outside the scope of the training.
