    OT-2: Connected Machines and Systems

Industry 4.0 has connected machines – and made them attackable. Which security requirements apply today and tomorrow to wirelessly communicating machines, systems and devices, and how to measure your products against them.

For a long time, connectivity was purely a promise of functionality: every machine, every system, every device was supposed to deliver data – wirelessly, and from anywhere. Industry 4.0 turned this idea into the standard. But the purely functional view has changed with the attacks of recent years: more and more often, it is precisely these devices, machines and systems that are identified as the weak spot in the infrastructure and deliberately attacked.

So the uncomfortable question in 2026 is no longer “What can our machine do?” but: Does it meet the requirements that customers, legislators and attackers place on it today?

Module OT-2 shows how the requirements for wireless data transmission have changed and which measures manufacturers must observe now and in the near future – for example the cybersecurity requirements of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED). Those who know these requirements and take them into account early give their products a tangible competitive edge. Participants learn to evaluate their own products against these requirements.

Who it is for: Manufacturers of machinery, systems and devices that transmit data wirelessly – product management, engineering and technical staff.

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of data processing.

Format: Half-day on-site training (4 hours) at HubWerk01 with 8 to 12 participants from different companies. Certificate of attendance on completion.

Good to know: The training provides orientation and replaces neither individual legal advice nor a product-specific standards analysis. Operational implementation – such as risk assessments or technical documentation – is outside the scope of the training.
